What data does this hub publish?

Podcast Health Report — edition 2026-08

Among 779 ongoing curated shows (790 listed; 11 finished limited series excluded from dormancy rates), data as of 2026-08-08:

9%
no episode in 90+ days (stale)
5%
silent 1+ year (dormant)
85%
published in the last 30 days
779
verified ongoing shows in sample

Pattern that matters: business, sports, and other professionally backed categories sit near zero dormancy; hobbyist-led categories go quiet at many times that rate. Full methodology, per-genre table, and CSV live on the report page.

What we publish

Podcast Health Report

Monthly dormancy and publishing-recency for editorially curated, Apple-verified shows. Per-show CSV with Apple collection IDs. Edition 2026-08 live.

Apple Charts Turnover Study coming soon

Daily Apple top-podcasts snapshots across 30 storefronts and 20 genres began August 2026 — the first free longitudinal chart dataset since Chartable shut down. We will publish half-life, turnover, and category velocity once enough history accumulates. No invented early numbers.

Why we publish this

A recommendation site should show its work

The Podcast App maintains curated recommendation lists inside a free podcast player. Keeping those lists honest means verifying, every month, that each recommended show still exists and still publishes — identity pinned to Apple collection IDs, dates from Apple's catalog. These datasets are that verification pipeline, published. If a number here is wrong, our recommendations are wrong, and we want to know.

Use the data with attribution (CC BY 4.0). Journalists on deadline: the health report has a cite-ready block and a methodology section written to be quoted. The same bar applies to every page here — see how this site is written, checked, and corrected.
