What The Podcast App does with your show.

Straight answers for creators. The app plays your public RSS feed as published, renders the Podcasting 2.0 tags you already ship, inserts no ads of its own, and lets listeners keep your show for free when they switch apps. No claim form. No dashboard. No listener-intelligence product. Those never shipped, so they are not on this page.

What does The Podcast App offer podcasters?

Five things, all in the installable iOS and Android app right now. Nothing here is a roadmap item.

Your feed is the source of truth

The app is built on standard public RSS and the open Podcast Index, not a proprietary catalogue. If your show is in the index, it is searchable in the app. If it is not, any listener can add it by pasting the feed URL. There is no submission form and no gatekeeper; publish a valid feed and you are in.

Podcasting 2.0 tags, rendered

Ship the tags and the app shows them: chapters in the player, a transcript on the episode, your funding link and podroll on the show screen, and up to five credited people per episode. Tags the app does not read are ignored, never rewritten.

  • podcast:chapters
  • podcast:transcript
  • podcast:funding
  • podcast:person
  • podcast:podroll

No app-inserted ads. Honest Ad-Skip.

The free player carries no ads of its own, so your sponsor reads are never buried under ours. Smart Ad-Skip is a listener control: one tap past a known ad break on supported podcasts. It is not automatic removal, creator mid-rolls may remain, and listeners can switch it off. Your audio file is played as served.

Portable, offline, free

Listeners import an OPML file from their last app and export one if they leave, on the free tier. Offline downloads are unlimited on free. Your subscribers keep following you no matter which app they land in, and nothing about your show is locked behind Premium.

Podcast Brain is listener-side

Brain is an optional Premium layer that answers questions and summarises across eligible transcript-backed episodes for the person listening. A podcast:transcript in your feed is the first thing it looks for. It gives you, the creator, nothing: no reports, no digests, no analytics. That is the product, stated plainly.

Not offered

What this page used to promise, and does not any more.

An earlier version of this page described creator tools that were never built. Our editorial rule is that every claim comes from the shipped app, so they are gone.

  • Claim your show. There is no claim form, ownership verification, or 48-hour setup. Your public feed already does the job.
  • Weekly Top Questions digest. No listener-question reports are generated or emailed to creators.
  • Topic Trend Map. No topic analytics exist for podcasters.
  • Content Gap Finder. No episode-idea or content-gap report exists.
  • Verified badge and show-notes link. No podcaster badge or creator dashboard exists in the app.

If something about your show renders wrong in the app, that is a bug and we want it: report a feed problem.

FAQ

Your Questions, Answered

Publish a public RSS feed. The app is built on standard RSS and the open Podcast Index, so shows listed there appear in search without any submission step. Listeners can also add any show directly by pasting its RSS feed URL in the app. There is no claim form, no verification queue and no dashboard, because there is nothing to claim: your feed is the source of truth.

No. The Podcast App has no show-claiming flow, no podcaster dashboard, no weekly listener-question digest, no topic trend map, no content-gap report and no verified badge. An earlier version of this page described those as if they existed. They were never built, and this page now lists only what the shipped app does.

The app renders podcast:chapters, podcast:transcript, podcast:funding, podcast:person and podcast:podroll when your feed publishes them. Chapters show in the player, up to five people show on the episode screen, the funding link and podroll show on the show screen, and a published transcript is the first thing Podcast Brain looks for on an episode. Tags the app does not read are simply ignored; nothing in your feed is rewritten.

The app inserts no ads of its own into any episode. Smart Ad-Skip is a listener control: one tap jumps past ad breaks on supported podcasts where ad segments are already known for that episode. It is not automatic removal or muting of every publisher ad, creator mid-rolls may remain, and listeners can turn it off. The player never edits the audio file your feed serves.

No. Podcast Brain is an optional Premium feature on the listener side: it answers questions and summarises across eligible transcript-backed episodes for the person listening. It produces no podcaster-facing reports, digests or analytics, and listening history and Brain conversations are not sold or shared with creators or advertisers.

For Podcasters
